Early Help Family Support Coordinator (Asylum and Refugee)

Salary: £35,570 starting salary (salary range will increase to max £38,510 via the length of service) per annum (pro rata where applicable).

Contract: Permanent basis, (funded currently confirmed until March 2029).

Hours: Part-time 28 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks)

Location: Bradford. a minimum of 3 days is required to work from the Bradford office. The postholder must be available to travel across Bradford for meetings and home visits

Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who've survived some of the world's worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years' experience of empowering people who've survived some of the world's worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate:

• Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.

• Understanding of how the UK's hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it.

• Knowledge and experience of direct work with families who have complex needs and detailed knowledge of the UK asylum system.

• Ability to work within a multi-agency setting, representing the needs of RA clients at the same time as understanding the needs of other services.

• Understanding of safeguarding practice & statutory social care structures and processes.

• Ability to follow an assessment threshold and to engage appropriate tools to ensure thorough assessments

• Ability and commitment to reflect on your practice and a commitment to continual professional development and learning.

• Understanding of the importance of working in a child-centred way

• Excellent inter-personal skills, demonstrating ability to form relationships with a broad range of colleagues across RA, statutory services, and voluntary organisations with the ability to support and challenge.

• Excellent teamwork and time management skills and ability to plan and manage own workload including case management experience

• Excellent written communication skills and experience in presenting clear and accurate written documents to present evidence and advocate.

• Understanding of the benefits and challenges of involving volunteers on services and projects and experience of supporting volunteers within a casework context.

• Understanding of and commitment to key advice principles such as confidentiality, impartiality and non-directive approaches and a commitment to equality of opportunity.

• Ability to be administratively self-sufficient, including the ability to record data for monitoring purpose.
