Role Responsibility

You'll manage your own caseload of young people, providing tailored support that helps them make positive changes and reduce the risks associated with drug and alcohol use.

Your role will include:

• Completing assessments and identifying individual support needs
• Developing person-centred recovery and intervention plans
• Delivering one-to-one and group-based interventions
• Providing advice, education and harm reduction support
• Building trusted, meaningful relationships with young people
• Working collaboratively with families and carers where appropriate
• Completing risk assessments and safeguarding activities
• Delivering awareness sessions and educational workshops within schools and partner organisations
• Working closely with Social Care, CAMHS, Youth Justice Services, schools and other professionals
• Supporting young people in community settings, schools, family homes and other locations that best meet their needs

No two days are the same. One day you may be delivering substance awareness sessions in a school, and the next supporting a young person through a difficult period alongside their family and partner agencies.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes. You may already have experience in youth work, children's services, education, pastoral support, mental health, social care, family support, substance use services, community outreach or safeguarding.

To be successful in this role, you'll have experience working with young people under 25 and be able to engage and motivate young people from a wide range of backgrounds. You'll be skilled at building trust and positive relationships quickly, confident managing your own workload, and comfortable working both independently and in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals.

You'll also have excellent communication and organisational skills, along with knowledge of, or a keen interest in, substance use, recovery and behaviour change. Most importantly, you'll bring resilience, empathy and a non-judgemental approach, enabling you to support young people through challenges and help them achieve their goals.

A relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.

The most important thing is your ability to connect with young people, inspire change and support them to achieve their goals.
