An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Clinical Educator to join the Quality and Education Team on Cardiac Intensive Care which is a 15 bedded mixed level 2 and level 3 area in Adult Critical Care. It specialises in the care of patients following complex heart surgery including coronary bypass grafts, valve replacements and aortic aneurysm surgery and is one of the largest congenital heart units in the country and provide care to adults from across Yorkshire and Humber and further afield.
The job holder will facilitate the development of clinical staff both registered and unregistered.
This is an exciting time in Adult Critical Care as we continue to embed and develop our blended education programme which includes a virtual learning platform, practical skills sessions, simulation and teaching advanced clinical skills. The Jobholder will play an essential role supporting Nursing and Midwifery (including ODP) education by facilitating education, training and practice development within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Adult Critical Care provides HDU and ICU care for patients from Leeds and across the West Yorkshire region. This includes Critical Care Outreach and Rehabilitation. Adult Critical Care consists of five units encompassing general, neurosurgical and cardiac services. Based across two sites, Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital, each unit provides HDU and ICU care for patients from Leeds and across the West Yorkshire region

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the Education and Quality Team, to support all aspects of quality improvement and education within Critical Care. The post holder will have in-depth specialist knowledge of critical care and contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of education and training of registered and unregistered nursing staff.
The post holder will lead by example, will be responsible for disseminating good practice and actively challenging assumptions, practice, and performance where appropriate.
They will work in collaboration with the senior management team to maintain and project the vision and objectives of the service and ensure that they are embedded in practice.
The post holder will be expected to work a proportion of their time as rostered clinical shifts within the clinical environment to maintain expert clinical skills and promote quality improvement and to drive standards of care and improve the patient experience.
