Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor

Salary: from £25 p/h, dependent on experience

Reed Further Education are recruiting for a skilled and enthusiastic Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor to join a thriving training provider in York.

We are seeking a dedicated educator with experience delivering Functional Skills qualifications to apprentices, helping learners develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their educational and career goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Maths lessons to apprentices.
• Plan, prepare and adapt learning materials to meet individual learner needs.
• Track learner progress and provide timely feedback and support.
• Maintain accurate learner records and meet awarding body requirements.
• Support learners to achieve Functional Skills qualifications and apprenticeship standards.
• Work collaboratively with assessors, employers and wider curriculum teams.

Essential Requirements

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent).
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths.
• Previous experience teaching apprentices within an FE, apprenticeship or work-based learning environment.
• Strong understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Excellent communication and learner engagement skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years' referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
