Building Safety Manager

We are supporting a leading housing organisation to appoint an experienced Building Safety Manager to take operational responsibility for Building Safety and Fire Safety across its residential property portfolio.

This is a key role within the Property and Building Safety function, with particular responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, fire safety legislation and associated regulatory requirements, including the effective management of Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Building Safety and Compliance, you will lead a small technical team and provide specialist advice, assurance and challenge across the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing Building Safety and Fire Safety compliance across the property portfolio.
• Leading the management of Higher-Risk Buildings, including Building Safety Cases and Safety Reports.
• Ensuring building safety risks are identified, assessed, monitored and appropriately mitigated.
• Leading on Golden Thread, Control of Works and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting processes.
• Supporting HRB registration and Building Assurance Certificate applications.
• Overseeing Fire Risk Assessment programmes and associated remedial actions.
• Working with Asset Management teams to manage structural risks.
• Liaising with the Building Safety Regulator, Fire and Rescue Service, HSE and other external stakeholders.
• Providing expert advice and assurance to senior management and governance groups.
• Developing and maintaining Building Safety and Fire Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
• Leading resident engagement in relation to building safety concerns.
• Supporting audits, regulatory returns and ongoing compliance activity.

About You

You will be an experienced Building Safety professional with:

• Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation.
• Practical experience working with Higher-Risk Buildings.
• Experience developing or managing Building Safety Cases and/or Safety Reports.
• Knowledge of the Golden Thread and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
• Strong understanding of fire safety, structural risk and building compliance.
• Experience working with regulators, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to provide robust professional advice and challenge when required.
• Relevant professional qualifications or membership of an appropriate professional body.
