The Team
The Communities Centre at York St John University provides accessible, high-quality mental health, wellbeing, and educational services to members of our communities. In addition, the Centre facilitates a range of knowledge exchange activities through a variety of student placement & volunteering opportunities, continuous professional development (CPD) and strategic partnerships. Our research focuses on addressing key societal challenges with the aim of driving meaningful, positive, and sustainable change within diverse communities. Based on the Communities Centre reception, the post holder will be a key member of the admin/reception team.
The Role
You will deliver and maintain professional administrative processes and excellent customer service that effectively assist Centre clients, staff and placement students. This role will create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors within the Centre and you will maintain the highest standards of customer service to contribute towards a positive experience for those using our services.
As part of this role you will be responsible for welcoming visitors to the Centre, taking payments and responding to enquiries professionally and courteously, in-person, over the telephone and by email. You will be expected to complete reception related administration bookings such as allocating room booking requests and provide administrative support to Centre staff such as the Co-ordinators and Centre Management team.
Please note this is a flexible role and the shift pattern may vary on a week-by-week basis and will be dependent on the needs of the Centre. Evening work will be required. This role is fixed-term for one year and is part time working 8 hours per week.
Required skills and experience
This role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to be non-judgemental and share the values and ethos of the Centre.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check.
