Are you an experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible opportunities within mainstream schools across Sheffield?

Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are recruiting 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to work on a temporary, ongoing supply basis across a variety of welcoming mainstream schools throughout Sheffield.

This 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is specifically suited to candidates with previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs. Working as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Sheffield, you will provide dedicated support to individual pupils whilst helping them access learning and develop confidence within a mainstream school environment.

Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £92.56 - £100 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you

About the Role

Working as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Sheffield, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs within mainstream classrooms.

The 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant role in Sheffield may involve supporting pupils with needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties or other learning needs. You will work closely with teachers and wider school staff to provide consistent and appropriate support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
  • Adapt support to meet individual learning needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development
  • Work closely with teachers and wider school staff
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is essential
  • Knowledge or experience of needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication difficulties
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
