Job Requirements/Description

Community Coordinator based at MHA Communities Wakefield

18 hours per week

£25,987.00 pro rata (per annum for part-time)

A great opportunity to work in your local community to support older people to increase social inclusion.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in MHA Communities - Wakefield and District. You will be required to travel around the district, so a clean driving licence and access to a car are also required, as well as some experience of working on different digital platforms.

The MHA Communities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and running a programme of activities, the scope of which will vary depending upon local need.

All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.

This programme could include any mix from MHA’s core service offering – such as befriending, lunch clubs, social outings or clubs. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop new activities based on feedback from and the needs of the community – this could include coordinating with other organisations such as local colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of exercise groups.

The Community Coordinator will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and so good communication is as important as having strong organisation skills.

MHA are fully committed to the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as this is embedded in our values: respect, nurture and inspire. In addition, as a committed employer, we have been awarded level 2 under the Disability Confident Scheme. Click here to read more about this.

Please note that interviews may take place prior to the advert closing as and when suitable applications are received. If a suitable candidate is appointed, the role may close early; therefore please do not hesitate to submit your application.
