School Therapist

We have a great opportunity to join Northpoint as a School Therapist, within our school Therapy Services across the Kirklees area. In this role, you’ll provide therapeutic support to children and young people within school settings, helping to improve emotional wellbeing and resilience through early intervention and evidence-based practice.

We are recruiting for two fixed-term School Therapist positions until 30 April 2027.

We recognise that flexible working may suit many candidates balancing other work and personal commitments and we can offer working patterns ranging from 14 hours per week through to full-time (35 hours per week)

To support current service demand, we’re keen to hear from candidates who are available to start as soon as possible. Applicants who already hold a DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service would be preferred.

Salary: £32,440 - £40,530 per annum (pro rata), Northpoint Band F1.

As a School Therapist you will be a key role in delivering high-quality therapeutic support to children and young people across Kirklees. Working collaboratively with schools, families, and other professionals, you will deliver impactful therapeutic interventions that help pupils overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive.

You will be responsible for:

• Delivering short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people within primary and secondary school settings.

• Managing a caseload, carrying out assessments, formulation, and therapeutic support tailored to individual needs.

• Working collaboratively with school staff, parents/carers, and partner agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to support.

• Providing consultation, guidance, and advice to schools while promoting safeguarding, positive mental health, and resilience.

What are we looking for in our ideal School Therapist?

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and enjoys working in a varied, people-facing role.

• A relevant therapeutic qualification, including a diploma from a BACP-accredited training programme (or equivalent) and/or a relevant HCPC-registered qualification.

• Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to children and young people, including undertaking assessments, managing risk, and supporting a range of emotional and mental health needs.

• An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and risk management.

• Ability to travel independently across multiple locations within Kirklees to meet service requirements.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, school staff, and partner agencies.

• A commitment to inclusivity, empowerment and supporting people to take an active role in their wellbeing.
