Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Up to £43,408 per annum* (please see salary guidance attached). Plus generous benefits. These include:

  • 57 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)
  • Generous Occupational Pension Scheme
  • Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE)
  • Progression beyond point 12 of the salary scale (£40,407) is subject to Tutors obtaining QTLS. Staff with Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) via the Society for Education and Training (SET) are eligible to receive an enhanced salary of £44,875 - please see attached salary guidance for further details.

About the role
York College has an exciting opportunity for an inspirational, enthusiastic and experienced Tutor of Travel & Tourism to join our successful Hospitality & Tourism team. This exciting position offers the opportunity to inspire and develop the next generation of travel and tourism professionals through engaging, industry-focused teaching.
The successful candidate will teach across Travel & Tourism programmes at Levels 2 and 3 contributing to the continued success, growth and development of the curriculum area. Working within a supportive and ambitious team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences that enable students to achieve their full potential.
The Hospitality & Tourism curriculum area currently offers NCFE Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC Foundation and Extended Diploma courses in Travel and Tourism and runs an exciting domestic tourism-based enrichment programme.

About the Person
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and highly motivated individual who is passionate about Travel & Tourism education and committed to student success.
You should hold a degree, HNC or professional qualification in a Travel, Tourism, Aviation or Business-related subject and ideally possess a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or Cert Ed.
Experience of working within the travel, tourism or aviation sector is essential. The role would suit an industry professional looking to share their expertise with future professionals or an experienced educator seeking a new and rewarding opportunity.
You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to inspire, motivate and support students from a range of backgrounds. A commitment to high standards, innovation in teaching and collaborative working will be key to success in this role.
