Job Requirements/Description

For more than 30 years, Zenith has been helping organisations move further, smarter and more sustainably. As the UK's leading independent leasing, fleet management and vehicle solutions provider, we manage almost 170,000 vehicles across our corporate, commercial and salary sacrifice businesses.

Behind every successful fleet is a maintenance operation that keeps vehicles moving, controls costs and delivers for customers. That's where our Commercial Maintenance & Risk team comes in. Working with some of the UK's largest fleet operators, the team reviews, challenges and authorises thousands of repairs every year, helping customers stay compliant, minimise vehicle downtime and maximise value from their maintenance contracts.

What's the role?

We're looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of Maintenance Controllers responsible for reviewing, challenging and authorising repairs across HGV, trailer and LCV fleets.

This role is ideal for someone with a workshop, service or fleet engineering background who enjoys developing people, solving technical challenges and making commercially sound decisions. You'll be the first point of escalation for complex repairs, support your team with technical guidance and play a key role in balancing customer service, vehicle availability and cost control.

It's an opportunity to move beyond day-to-day maintenance operations and build broader leadership, commercial and stakeholder management experience within a growing area of the business.

What You'll be doing

You'll supervise the day-to-day operation of the Maintenance Authorisation Team, ensuring repairs are reviewed accurately, challenged where appropriate and authorised within agreed service levels.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Maintenance Controllers to deliver high-quality, commercially sound decisions.
  • Acting as a technical escalation point for complex or high-value repair authorisations.
  • Challenging labour times, parts pricing and repair recommendations to ensure costs remain controlled and competitive.
  • Monitoring team performance, workflow and service levels to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
  • Identifying opportunities to protect profitability across fixed-price maintenance contracts.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, repairers, dealerships and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting quality assurance, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

What Can You Bring
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or coaching colleagues.
  • Strong mechanical and engineering knowledge gained within HGV, trailer, truck, LCV or fleet environments.
  • A detailed understanding of vehicle repair and maintenance costs.
  • Experience reviewing repair estimates, authorisations or supplier invoices.
  • Confidence challenging labour times, parts pricing and repair recommendations professionally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A customer-focused approach and an understanding of the importance of service delivery.
  • The ability to build trust and credibility with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
