Maintenance Operative

Location: Mirfield

Salary: £13-15 per hour dependant on experience (Depending on experience)

Hopton Cottage is a residential care home and is fully staffed 24 hours a day. Every room has been designed to offer maximum luxury and comfort, regardless of age or physical ability.

The Role

As a Maintenance Operative, you will help to create the safe and attractive surroundings that enable the home to give the residents the quality care and support they are entitled to. It's important that the home gives the right first impression and continues with this by ensuring that every area is always well-maintained.

Duties include:

• Plenty of variety as you'll undertake a range of tasks to make sure the building and grounds are at their best all day, every day.
• You will share responsibility for all general maintenance and upkeep duties required to ensure a safe and attractive environment for residents and staff.
• Duties will include planned preventive work and safety checks, as well as running repairs and the supervision of outside contractors.
• This includes minor plumbing tasks, outside maintenance and some small-scale decorating.

Skills and Qualifications

• Good communication skills.
• Broad, practical expertise including an awareness of when to call in other professionals.
• Must be able to respond calmly to sudden urgent situations, such as a facilities' failure.
• A caring and friendly approach is required at all times to all parties, this includes residents, their families and staff colleagues.
• Any formal trade qualifications (Desirable but not essential)
• Some experience and expertise in maintaining a property)
