Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is looking for a Research and Evidence Specialist with the analytical mindset and technical expertise to turn ecological data into meaningful action for nature.

This is an opportunity to shape how evidence supports nature recovery across Yorkshire. You will design ecological research, monitoring and survey programmes; analyse complex ecological and spatial datasets; and develop models and insights that help us understand what works and where action will have the greatest impact. You will work with colleagues, academics and partner organisations, applying established methods alongside emerging technologies such as remote sensing, bioacoustics, camera monitoring and eDNA.

Your findings will directly inform conservation delivery, land management, strategy and policy. You will translate complex evidence and uncertainty into clear, practical recommendations, while helping us measure progress towards the ambitions set out in State of Yorkshire’s Nature and Bringing Yorkshire’s Nature Back.

We are looking for a collaborative and methodical specialist with experience in ecological research design, statistical and spatial analysis, and modelling. You will be confident using tools such as R, Python and GIS, committed to producing transparent and reproducible work, and able to communicate compelling insights to technical and non-technical audiences. An advanced degree in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge and experience, is essential.
