Job Requirements/Description

DRIVE TRANSFORMATIVE SEND OUTCOMES

At EDClass, we believe that every child deserves an education tailored to their unique strengths. We partner with Local Authorities, Schools, and MATs to create a "Digital Safe Haven" for vulnerable, SEND, LAC, and EBSA learners who thrive outside the traditional classroom environment. Forget the static classroom box. Welcome to a dynamic digital ecosystem built to reshape how the UK supports alternative education. By building strong relationships with our educational partner we engineer bespoke, accessible learning pathways.

We are seeking a seasoned, forward-thinking Head of SEND to join a culture that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your primary role is to deeply understand the journey of every single learner on our platform. You will serve as the Key Cog and the definitive focal point for all student reviews, transforming national statutory frameworks (KCSIE, the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, and the SEND White Paper) into accessible, barrier-free digital realities.

About EDClass, the DfE Accreditation and your new role

As a Department for Education (DfE) accredited provider of Online Alternative Provision, EDClass operates under the highest tier of national scrutiny, providing an ironclad guarantee of quality, safety, and academic rigor. For our partner schools, MATs, and Local Authorities, this prestigious accreditation transforms EDClass from a simple software vendor into an official, trusted extension of their own statutory teams. The Head of SEND directly leverages this regulatory stamp of approval during high-stakes reviews, using the platform's meticulous, automated data tracking to deliver ready-made evidence for Ofsted’s Inclusion Judgement. By standing as the definitive focal point across all universal reviews, this role ensures that every placement seamlessly satisfies the complex legal demands of KCSIE and Section F provisions. The resulting impact is an entirely new, drama-free alternative education landscape: Local Authorities secure flawless legal compliance and funding justification, mainstream schools maintain pristine accountability structures during inspections, and parents receive transparent, undeniable proof that their child is thriving within a protected, accredited, and highly aspirational digital safe haven.

THE FOUNDATIONAL PILLARS

Strategic Advocacy

You serve as the professional, high-profile face of EDClass in high-stakes statutory forums. This pillar is about shifting the dialogue with Local Authorities, schools, and MATs away from subjective, emotional narratives and grounding it entirely in evidence-based insights. You step into virtual or physical review rooms as a calm, expert extension of the client’s statutory teams, confidently presenting platform analytics to champion and protect the student’s Section F provisions. By ensuring that robust progress data always takes precedence over organisational friction, you safeguard EDClass's reputation and turn long-term partnerships into collaborative, strategic alliances.

SEND Leadership

You hold the central point of direction and direct management responsibility for a growing, dynamic frontline team of SENCOs and SEND Assistants. Your leadership transforms this department into a unified, clinical front governed by professional distance and the "Data-First" model. Through strict quality assurance and standardisation checks, you ensure your team oversees the "Graduated Approach" (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) with absolute precision and legal compliance. You act as the department's "Emotional Circuit Breaker," mentor staff through standard communication logs, eliminate SEND and EHCP issues and protect team welfare from the secondary trauma of complex, high-needs cases.

Pedagogical Accessibility

You bridge the critical gap between available software settings and active classroom delivery, ensuring platform features become live, life-changing interventions. Rather than working with teachers individually, you manage accessibility on a macro level by creating recorded studio masterclasses and instructional videos for an automated Internal SEND teaching, accessibility and delivery Knowledge Base. You train the teaching team to systematically implement digital overlays, speech-to-text, and adaptive Nurture Pathways without becoming emotionally enmeshed. Through termly accessibility audits, you ensure every digital asset—from alt-text to high-contrast visuals—is built "Accessible-First" to explicitly capture the "voice of the child" in alignment with Ofsted Inclusion requirements.

Factual review jurisdiction

You are the unyielding central axis for all reviews involving students on an EDClass seat with an EHCP or SEND status. Whether collaborating with Local Authorities or mainstream schools, you are the definitive focal point delivering objective, ironclad reporting that completely decouples the student's personal "story" from the platform's structural "solutions."

  • LA Commissioning and Strategy Reviews: Partnering alongside the Lead of LA Operations, you anchor high-stakes forums in data. You lead the high-stakes delivery regarding educational progress, accessibility compliance, and EHCP alignment, providing Case Officers with factual "Impact Statements" that clear the path for statutory compliance and funding renewals.
  • School and MAT Progress Reviews: You are the anchor for termly, data-driven virtual reviews with school SPOCs and MPOCs. By presenting clean, observable metrics of a student's "Digital Journey," you provide school leaders with the precise qualitative evidence required to satisfy the Ofsted Inclusion Judgement Framework.
  • Command of the EHCP Annual Review: You systematically guide your team to prepare evidence-mapped reports referencing specific Section F provisions. In the meeting, you present platform analytics defensively, protecting the integrity of EDClass’s provision while keeping the environment focused entirely on statutory deadlines and verifiable milestones.

Driving accessibility and Ofsted compliance

You aren't just managing paperwork; you are designing effective interventions and unlocking the world for non-verbal, neurodivergent, and high-need learners. You will bridge the gap between software features and active classroom delivery through an innovative virtual training ecosystem:

  • Showcasing the "Art of the Possible": Step into our production studio to record short, inspiring platform walk-throughs from a learner's and parents’ perspective. You will show teachers and parents exactly how a student with severe dyslexia or visual impairment navigates lessons using screen readers, custom overlays, font adjustments, or bilingual dual-language toggles.
  • Empowering the Classroom: In collaboration with Content Producers (managed by the Head of Curriculum), you will build an automated Internal SEND Knowledge and accessibility Base for students, teachers, schools SENDCOs and parents. These will access your virtual workshops asynchronously to master the neurobiology behind our Nurture Pathways, moving their delivery from rigid to highly supportive.
  • Capturing the Voice of the Child: You will ensure our review reports map directly to EHCP goals while capturing genuine student feedback through accessible communication tools like symbols, audio tags, and interactive scales (such as the Mood View and Pain Scale). This provides robust, data-rich evidence of sustained and meticulous monitoring for Ofsted inspections.

For the Learners: True Digital Autonomy

You dismantle the hidden walls of online learning. Through your design, a non-verbal student, a learner with severe dyslexia, or a student overcoming emotional school avoidance gets an environment where adaptive tools aren’t "extra features"—they are the foundation.

For the Parents: Complete Transparency and Peace of Mind

No more guessing games or exhausting battles for provision. You give parents an ironclad, data-backed seat at the table. By mapping progress beautifully onto the platform, you show them exactly how their child's Section F needs are being actively met and celebrated.

For the System: The Ofsted Inclusion Standard

You are the definitive bridge between raw technology and strict UK statutory compliance (KCSIE, the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, and the SEND White Paper). You provide the bulletproof, qualitative evidence that schools and LAs need to confidently pass an Ofsted inspection with flying colours.

THE FOUNDATIONAL PILLARS

  • Strategic Advocacy: The calm, analytical face of EDClass. You walk into high-stakes statutory forums armed with platform diagnostics, transforming stressful local authority meetings into objective, collaborative, and successful strategic alliances.
  • SEND Leadership: The "Emotional Circuit Breaker" for a growing, dynamic team of frontline SENCOs and Assistants. You manage workflows through clean communication standards, eliminating administrative friction and protecting team wellbeing from the secondary trauma of complex cases.
  • Pedagogical Accessibility: Building a macro-level training engine. You don't hand-hold teachers 1-to-1. Instead, you step into our studio to film recorded masterclasses, empowering our educators to deploy custom overlays, speech-to-text, and Nurture Pathways seamlessly.

FACTUAL REVIEWS

You are the central axis for every single review on the platform. You lead with a high-efficiency model, ensuring reviews are sharp, time-bound, and strictly anchored to observable metrics rather than anecdotal "stories."

  • LA Strategy Reviews: Partnering alongside the Lead of LA Operations to issue clear, evidence-mapped Impact Statements that justify continued placement and secure seamless funding renewals.
  • School and MAT Progress Reviews: Providing school SPOCs and MPOCs with a regular, data-rich overview of their students' journeys to fulfil the Ofsted Inclusion Judgement framework.
  • The EHCP Annual Review Command: Leading defensive, analytics-first presentations that prove Section F legal compliance within strict legal timeframes.

ACCESSIBILITY IN ACTION

You will completely revolutionise training by designing an automated, interactive Internal SEND Knowledge and accessibility Base (already started) that is tailored for students, teachers, schools, and parents:

  • Broadcast Masterclasses: Record intuitive, studio-grade screen-walkthroughs from both a learner's and a parent's perspective. Exhibit exactly how screen readers, contrast settings, and dual-language toggles function in real-time.
  • Asynchronous Staff CPD: Team up with Content Producers (line-managed by the Head of Curriculum) to build automated workshops. Teachers access these digitally to master the neurobiology behind our Nurture Pathways, keeping them skilled and supportive without personal over-reliance on you.
  • The Authentic Voice of the Child: Ensure student feedback is captured creatively using symbols, audio tags, and interactive scales like the platform's Mood View and Pain Scale, weaving a "Golden Thread" of evidence from Hour One.

ARE YOU THE ONE?

If you are a seasoned SEN specialist who wants to step away from traditional roadblocks and scale your impact across a massive digital network, your workspace is ready.
