Academic/ Pastoral Coach

I'm currently recruiting for two Academic/ Pastoral Coach opportunities with Further Education colleges based in the West Yorkshire area, both offering the chance to make a real impact through learner support, academic guidance and pastoral development.

Academic Coach - Sociology/Psychology

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Duration: Minimum 3 weeks with potential for extension

Hours: Monday to Friday

Rate: Competitive, depending on experience

Location: Bradford

This role is ideal for a qualified teacher with a background in Sociology and/or Psychology who enjoys working closely with learners to support their academic progress. Rather than focusing on marking and assessment, the successful candidate will provide academic coaching, facilitate learning activities, offer one-to-one support, and help students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their studies.

Requirements:

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
• Background in Sociology and/or Psychology
• Strong communication and learner engagement skills
• Available to start on 1st September 2026
• Enhanced DBS and up-to-date compliance checks
• Recent teaching reference available

Pastoral coach - PSHCE

Duration: Temporary ongoing

Hours: To be confirmed

Rate: Competitive

Location: Leeds

We are also recruiting for an Pastoral coach - PSHCE to join a college in the Leeds area. This position combines academic coaching with wider learner support responsibilities. The successful candidate will deliver PSHE sessions, work closely with students across vocational programmes, and form part of the wider pastoral team, helping learners overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes. This is a highly student-focused role requiring previous experience within Further Education.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working as an Academic Coach within Further Education is essential
• Experience delivering PSHE sessions
• Strong pastoral and learner support skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Enhanced DBS and relevant compliance checks
