Production Shift Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a manufacturing business in Rotherham to recruit a hands-on Shift Supervisor / Shift Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations across their shift.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, leading from the front and taking real ownership for people, performance, safety, quality and delivery.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the shift runs safely and efficiently, coordinating people, machinery and materials to achieve production targets whilst maintaining a positive and accountable team culture.

Monday - Friday, days & afters
£35,000 - £45,000

Key Responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor / Shift Manager include:

• Take ownership of day-to-day production activities across the shift
• Lead, motivate and develop a team of Machine Operators, Operatives and Logistics personnel
• Ensure production schedules and customer orders are delivered on time and in full
• Coordinate labour, machinery and materials to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
• Maintain a hands-on presence within the production environment, supporting operational activity where required
• Monitor key production KPIs including output, OEE, waste, labour efficiency and quality
• Lead shift briefings, communicate priorities and ensure effective shift handovers
• Coach and develop employees, managing performance, attendance and training requirements
• Drive a strong safety-first culture and ensure Health & Safety standards are consistently maintained
• Investigate operational, quality and safety issues and implement appropriate corrective actions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
• Oversee material movement, loading and dispatch activity to ensure customer requirements are achieved
• Complete accurate shift, production and KPI reporting using SAP and internal systems

We're keen to speak with Shift Supervisors / Shift Managers with the following skills & experience:

• Previous leadership experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• A strong track record of leading shop-floor teams and managing operational performance
• Confident, hands-on leadership style with the ability to make decisions and solve problems
• Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
• Experience working with production KPIs and driving improvements in performance
• Strong communication and people-management skills
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems; SAP experience would be advantageous
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement would be beneficial
• IOSH Managing Safely or a similar qualification would be advantageous
• This role would suit somebody who enjoys being at the heart of the operation - leading their team, solving problems and ensuring the shift delivers against safety, quality, production and customer targets.
