Café Assistant / Barista

Harrogate £12.71 per hour Monday to Friday

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent café in Harrogate, seeking a reliable and customer-focused individual to join their friendly team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy hospitality environment that prides itself on excellent customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for both regular and new customers. There is genuine potential for additional responsibilities and future progression for the right candidate.

The Role

• Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 3:00pm
• Initially covering school holiday periods
• Additional hours may be available by mutual agreement
• £12.71 per hour
• Opportunity to progress into supervisory or management responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving high-quality hot and cold beverages
• Delivering excellent front-of-house customer service
• Operating the till and processing payments
• Providing table service when required
• Assisting with basic food preparation
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming environment
• Supporting café events and activities
• Assisting with day-to-day operational management as the role develops

About You

• Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
• Passionate about food, coffee, and hospitality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
• Flexible and adaptable to business needs
• Previous barista experience is highly desirable
• Previous café, catering, hospitality, or customer service experience would be advantageous
• Food Hygiene certification would be beneficial but is not essential
