Cover Supervisor

Veritas Education are currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience, especially those considering a future career in teaching.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing classrooms during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set and maintaining a positive learning environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will supervise whole classes across a range of subjects, ensuring that students remain focused, productive, and on task throughout lessons.

You will not be required to plan or deliver lessons but will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning and supporting school behaviour policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set lesson materials and instructions.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Encourage student participation and engagement.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate.
• Record attendance and report any issues to relevant staff members.
• Ensure a safe and productive learning environment is maintained at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with young people is desirable.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Confident managing groups of secondary-aged students.
• Adaptable, organised, and able to think on their feet.
• A positive and professional attitude.
• Graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, and experienced support staff are encouraged to apply.
