We are excited to recruit 2 Family Hub Co-ordinators (Front of House) to join our Family Hub team and help create welcoming, accessible spaces for children, families and professionals across York. Based at either Hob Moor or The Avenues Family Hub, you’ll be at the heart of Family Hub delivery, acting as the first point of contact for families and visitors. As part of our "no wrong door" approach, you will ensure everyone who comes into the hub receives a warm welcome, feels listened to and can access the information, support and services they need.

You will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the Family Hub, supporting appointments, activities and community groups, coordinating room bookings, maintaining information and promotional materials and helping to ensure the hub is a safe, organised and inclusive environment. Working closely with practitioners, partner organisations and community groups, you will help create a positive experience for everyone using the hub.

The role combines customer service, coordination and information and advice work. You will respond to enquiries, provide signposting to services, support the promotion of activities and programmes, maintain activity information, and contribute to monitoring and reporting through the collection of visitor and attendance data.

About you:

  • Level 2 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with children, young people and families in an information, advice or customer service role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable manner
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy public-facing environment
  • Confidence working with partners and services to ensure families receive the right support at the right time

These are site-based roles within a Family Hub. The post requires flexibility to support the operational needs of the building, including occasional opening and closing responsibilities. An enhanced DBS check is required.

Join us and help make our Family Hubs welcoming places where families can easily connect with support, build relationships and access opportunities that help them thrive.

This post is suitable as a job share opportunity.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
