Catering Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in Harrogate HG1 2QG.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days on shifts of either 7am until 3pm or 11:30am until 7:30pm. Please note that this is a year-round position, including during the school holidays, to support with lettings and events taking place on the school grounds.

We’re looking for a Catering Assistant to join our friendly team at a busy school, serving around 450 people each day.

You’ll be part of a team of 17, helping with breakfast, lunch and supper service across the week. You’ll also support with hospitality and functions, including setting up, serving, clearing and cleaning. There will also be some food preparation and washing up during service when needed.

Previous catering experience is required, but most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is friendly, reliable and enjoys working as part of a team in a busy environment.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Have experience working in a similar role and environment
• Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
• Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
• Have excellent customer service and social skills
• Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff and pupils
• Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 17
• Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
