Purpose of the Role

Carrying out reactive repairs as part of the onsite team at a residential building consisting of 331 units across 2 buildings, under the direction of the General Manager to facilitate the efficient running of the building.

Ensuring repairs are completed in a reasonable time frame to provide resident satisfaction, where external contractors are involved ensuring the communication between themselves and the resident is clearly and timely

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Operative’s Main Duties:

  • Basic carpentry work
  • Painting and decorating Some tasks will be specific to sites and will require specific training and instruction, which will be recorded.
  • General maintenance, for example tightening loose screws, fixing signage, sticking carpet edges, sweeping and clearing etc.
  • Basic hardscaping e.g. re-bedding, or replacing paving stones and flagstones
  • Weekly flushing of infrequently used outlets
  • Use of stepladders and ladders (for short duration work only)
  • Replacing lightbulbs
  • Replacing domestic appliances plug fuses
  • Void management checks
  • Fire Door checks, Emergency Lighting Tests, Bell Testing etc.
  • Drainage works
  • Tiling
  • Reglazing at ground floor level
  • Joinery – boarding up broken windows
  • Use of basic hand tools and power tools which have been provided by Savills

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Proactive and dynamic taking ownership of all of core duties

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proven experience as a handyman or similar role

  • Excellent communication skills displaying sensitivities to and understanding of residents’ need

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Competent in using, Word and Outlook

  • Flexible and cooperative at all times, working as a member of a Team

  • Understanding the importance of achieving deadlines and ensuring quality output

  • Use initiative and take responsibility for providing solutions

  • To ensure confidentiality and security of all business, client and customer documentation/information

Working Hours

2 days a week 5 hours a day between 8am-1pm
