GTL Driver

• Hours: Monday-Friday 42 hours per week (term time) plus 20 days, on a three-week shift pattern, two weeks of 33 hours and one week of 60 hours, some Saturdays included on a rota basis.
• Salary: £27,364 (£14.60/hour) based on term-time only plus 20 days

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified PCV Driver to join our friendly and established team at GSAL Transport Limited (GTL), based at The Grammar School at Leeds in Alwoodley.

This is a permanent role working 42 hours per week, predominantly during school term time, with just 20 days worked outside of term time. The role is mainly Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays worked on a rota basis. This makes it a great opportunity for an experienced driver looking for a role that fits more closely around the school year while still offering additional hours when available.

GTL provides a dedicated transport service for pupils and families alongside private hire for other schools, sports clubs and community groups. Our transport service carries more than 600 pupils each day and operates a modern fleet of low-emission vehicles.

The role

As a GTL Driver, you’ll play an important part in providing a safe, reliable and welcoming transport service for our pupils, families and wider school community.

You’ll need a full Category D PCV licence and current Driver CPC qualification, along with excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional approach. Previous experience of driving coaches or buses across different types of roads would be an advantage.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Driving school vehicles safely and in accordance with legal requirements and GTL procedures
• Providing a friendly and professional service to pupils, parents, colleagues and other customers
• Following drivers’ hours regulations and using a tachograph where required
• Reporting any incidents, faults or vehicle issues promptly
• Keeping your allocated vehicle clean, tidy and well presented
• Supporting the wider Transport and Estates teams when driving commitments allow.
