SEND Specialist Teacher - Vision Impairment

Are you a passionate and experienced SEND teacher with a specialism in Vision Impairment or Multi-Sensory Impairment? Do you want to make a meaningful impact by supporting children and young people with complex needs to thrive in mainstream educational settings?

We are seeking a SEND Specialist Teacher to join a specialist inclusion service, working collaboratively with schools, families and professionals to promote inclusive practice and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

The Role

This is a mobile role, combining school-based work, collaboration with professionals, and flexible working from home where appropriate. You will play a key part in building capacity across schools by delivering expert assessment, advice, modelling and training.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking specialist SEND assessments for children and young people with complex needs, using a graduated and collaborative approach
• Providing advice, coaching and training to teachers and school staff on inclusive curriculum design and evidence-based strategies
• Delivering and modelling high-quality, research-led specialist teaching
• Supporting schools to embed recommendations through ongoing monitoring and quality assurance
• Contributing to EHCP assessments, reviews and statutory processes
• Developing and delivering training programmes and practical resources
• Working closely with parents/carers, schools and multi-disciplinary partners
• Line managing and supporting specialist outreach staff
• Promoting high aspirations and advocating for inclusive practice at all times

Some flexibility is required, including attendance at meetings or training outside of normal school hours on occasion.

About You

We're looking for a skilled and reflective professional who brings both expertise and empathy to their work. You will have:

Essential:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A post-graduate qualification in Vision Impairment
• Proven experience assessing and supporting children and young people with SEND/MSI
• Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and inclusive adaptations
• Confidence working directly with pupils, families and school staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
• A strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory guidance
• Ability to line manage and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable:

• Experience developing and delivering professional training
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEND

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check including barred list checks. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is essential.
