Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Azure

NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) is expanding its Infrastructure team to increase capacity across Microsoft Azure, Identity Management and wider technical projects.

This is a growth role within an established team of around 15 infrastructure professionals, ranging from apprentice and junior engineers through to senior and lead engineers.

You'll play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects, acting as a technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) and providing third-line support when required.

This role is UK-based and primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Leeds or Southampton office when required.

In normal circumstances, office attendance is expected to be no more than approximately once per quarter, although additional travel may be required for specific projects or business needs.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading and delivering infrastructure projects across Microsoft Azure, identity management and core infrastructure technologies.
• Acting as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, evaluation and implementation support for new and existing solutions.
• Supporting third-line incidents and contributing to major incident resolution when required.
• Taking ownership of technical changes, ensuring effective planning, delivery, documentation and knowledge transfer to operational support teams.
• Managing and supporting Windows Server, Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory environments.
• Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver successful business outcomes.

What you'll bring:

• Strong practical experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory administration.
• Solid experience managing and supporting Windows Server infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical implementations, infrastructure upgrades and project delivery activities.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, support guides and infrastructure diagrams.
• Confidence managing competing priorities and working effectively with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It would be great if you had:

• Experience supporting cloud transformation or infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
• Exposure to working within large, complex or highly regulated environments.
