Are you an experienced Contracts Manager who enjoys both delivering projects and helping secure future work?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading construction and fit-out contractor with a strong pipeline of public sector framework projects across healthcare, education, government, blue-light and heritage sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee multiple projects while playing a key role in pre-construction, tendering and bid-winning activities.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Operational Leadership Team, you'll take ownership of multiple refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.

The position combines operational project delivery with tender and bid support, making it ideal for someone who can successfully manage live projects whilst contributing to future business growth.

You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery

• Manage multiple construction projects across the North East, Yorkshire, North West and South Midlands.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
• Drive quality standards and ensure compliance across all sites.
• Oversee programme management and project planning activities.
• Monitor Health & Safety performance and ensure best practice is maintained.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Lead site teams and drive project performance.

Pre-Construction & Tendering

• Support bid submissions and tender responses.
• Review tender documents and identify project risks and opportunities.
• Visit sites and assess project requirements before tender submission.
• Develop construction methodologies and delivery programmes.
• Work closely with Quantity Surveyors and Pre-Construction teams.
• Challenge site surveys where required and validate project information.
• Contribute to successful framework and negotiated tender submissions.

About You

We're keen to speak with experienced Contracts Managers who have a strong operational background and a proven ability to support successful tender submissions.

The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, organised and comfortable managing multiple projects whilst maintaining excellent client relationships.

Essential Experience

• Previous experience as a Contracts Manager within construction.
• Strong fit-out and refurbishment project experience.
• Experience managing public sector works.
• Proven involvement in successful bid-winning and tender submissions.
• Strong programme planning and methodology development skills.
• Experience working alongside Quantity Surveyors and commercial teams.
• Ability to assess project risks and delivery strategies at tender stage.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, quality and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

• CSCS Black Card (preferred)
• SMSTS
• First Aid at Work
• Fire Marshal
• Scaffold Inspection or Scaffold Awareness
• Asbestos Awareness

Location & Travel

This role can be based from either the Leeds or Warrington office, with Leeds being the preferred location.

Projects are typically located across the M62 Corridor, North East England and South Midlands, with regular travel required.
