Job Summary

It takes all types of people to help save and improve lives. As a Blood Donation Team Assistant, you’ll play an important part in delivering a positive experience for our donors and supporting our donation teams across a variety of session locations. You’ll help care for donors after they have donated, prepare refreshments, make appointments and maintain accurate records, while helping to ensure sessions run safely and efficiently. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a service that makes a real difference every day. You’ll receive full training and ongoing support to develop new skills in a team environment where caring for donors, maintaining quality standards and delivering excellent customer service are at the heart of everything we do.

Main duties of the job

• Make a meaningful contribution to the donor experience by providing excellent care and customer service in the post donation recovery area.
• Support donors throughout their visit by preparing and distributing refreshments and maintaining close observation following donation.
• The role will require you to be available on a bank to work variable hours and days, including evening shifts, weekends and bank holidays with appropriate notice.
• Blood collection takes place in a variety of locations, requiring you to undertake journeys in our vehicles or in your own vehicle for up to 2 hours.
• You will be required to load, unload, assemble and dismantle equipment on a daily basis including heavy objects of up to 13 kgs.
• Help create a safe environment for donors, colleagues and visitors by maintaining high standards of health, safety and infection control.

• Able to follow written instructions and successfully complete training and ongoing competency assessments.
